The knowledge to treat you better
The surgeons of EVMS Medical Group are the only Level 1 Trauma surgeons in Hampton Roads.
As full-time faculty at EVMS, our surgeons have immediate access to each other, and to every researcher and specialist on the EVMS faculty, as well as the comprehensive resources of an academic medical center. This multidisciplinary team approach means our surgeons work together, often under the same roof, to ensure the smoothest, most seamless care. In most cases, patients can see several providers in one visit.
Committed to excellence
EVMS Medical Group surgeons are nationally and internationally recognized for their expertise and skill - and acclaimed for their clinical research, education of students and residents, and patient care. Many hold leadership positions in their specialty societies and are considered leaders in their fields. Our surgeons are accredited by the American College of Surgeons to teach students through multidisciplinary simulation training.

Laparoscopic surgery
Laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive surgery is al technique used in the abdominal and pelvic areas. It uses the aid of a laparoscope — a thin, telescopic rod with a camera at the end — to aid surgery.
Cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery
Our physicians specialize in cosmetic enhancements of the face, neck, breast, arms, skin, midsection and legs including breast surgery, body contouring and liposuction. Our reconstructive plastic surgeons can repair and restore form and function to parts of the body that have been compromised - whether at birth, by accident, illness or injury.
Emergency, trauma and critical care
Our surgeons operate in the area's only Level 1 trauma center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Our surgeons are fellowship trained in trauma and critical care with expertise in injury care available around the clock. With our dedicated staff, in our own intensive care unit, we provide state-of-the-art care in the regions' best resource available.
